 The Eleven Random Facts

I currently abide in Missouri, but I was born a Pacific Northwest girl.

My parents named me out of the LOTR. And, except for the time right after I read “Little Women” and wished that I was named Jo :), I have always been very glad that they did!

Winter sunsets and blue eyed cats are two of my favorite things. As are pictures of my characters, and sweet potatoes.

I am very interested in South America: the jungles, the Andes, the Spanish influence, the history that I actually know so little about...everything about it fascinates me–however, it was the monkeys that first caught my notice.

One of my dreams is to spend a summer at a farm or ranch that uses working draft horses.

I like to putter about in the garden, dying my hands brown with the soil. My thumbs, however, are as yet only a very pale shade of green. Well, practice makes perfect, or so I trust.

My family owns five dogs, of whom I am the primary kennel-keeper and one of my younger sister's, the secondary guard. Each has a vibrant story attached to their presence in our family. Two our family bought as puppies, the other three are rescue cases. One of whom (the full grown shepherd) is, as I write, attempting to get up on my lap.

I am a firm believer in the fact that the scent of pines and the true smell of horses are two of the most wonderful and fresh things in this world.

The height of my artistic ambition is to illustrate a retelling of “Beauty and the Beast.”

I relish dancing, either by myself or with a sister. Something I wish to do in the near future is learn a dance from a musical with one or more of my sisters.

Working on my stories or with my horse are two of my favorite and, for the most part, calming occupations. I am very thankful for both outlets that God has blessed me with.

Reyna's Questions

Do you like to write with a pencil or a pen?
I like the air of permanence and the black swirl that pen ink creates upon the paper.

In which century were most of the books you read written?
I am not sure if this means where the story is set or when it was written by the author, however for both questions the answer is the same: the 19th.

What is one of your favorite Bible verses? I know hardly anyone has a single favorite, so just pick one that comes to mind.
“'I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.' ”
- Galatians 2:21
This verse, which will at times go through and through my mind, is truly so comforting and inspiring at the same time!

Do you sew and if so (ha-ha), what?
Periodically, when the sewing fit is upon me I will clatter away at the sewing machine. Of late particularly, I have been greatly enjoying making some 1940's trousers. I would also like to make Liesl's play dress from the classic film.

What are three of your favorite movies?
I chose several of my favorite less well-known films -
“Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” (1971),
 “The Music Man” (2003), and
“The Stratton Story” (1949).

And here are the questions for my nominees!

Are you a blueberry or strawberry girl, i.e. which berry do you prefer?
What is the most chilling book you have ever read?
Would you rather travel to Asia or Europe?
Do you like to dance and if so what form?
What is one of the books of the Bible you are currently reading?

  1. I loved reading your answers! And I had assumed that you only used Eowyn as a pen name; that is so cool that your parents actually chose that name for you! I am now just a wee bit envious...

  3. How fun! I love your name, by the way. ;) Eowyn is an amazing character.

  4. Thank you so so much Eowyn!!
Wow, I assumed Eowyn was your pen name as well. That's so neat that your parents named you that! :) 1940s trousers? That sounds wonderful. I love the way pants looked back then. And, of course, a Liesel dress would be beautiful. You'll have to post pictures of your projects once they are finished!! :)

  5. I too assumed Eowyn was your pin name; this is awesome. Do please post photos if you do make a Liesel dress!
The berry question is fun, so I want to answer too. I love strawberries (nice homegrown ones warm from the sun, not the foamish one from the store). I also love raspberries. I like blueberries and blackberries in moderation and never cooked blueberries or blueberry juice or anything.
