Beautiful People: Friendship Edition - Clarkson & Elise

The moment I saw the subject for this month's Beautiful People on my dashboard thrills began tingling over me. Why? Because it is perfect for my current WIP! Thank you Sky and Cait :)

Freindship and what it means/what it does to people is almost (if not the) deepest thing going on in They Searched Who Laughed—as it's truly the thing that drives everything that happens in the story. So now you know why I'm a bit excited.

How long have they known each other, and how close are they?
They meet when Elise is eighteen and Clarkson twenty, but to Clarkson it might as well have been his entire life.

What’s their earliest memory of being best friends?
So this is a rather interesting case, as it begins with an action on Elise's part that Clarkson doesn't even strictly remember, yet it gains his undying trust.

Do they fight? How long do they typically fight for?
When Clarkson does find his temper (which is rarely) it's a quick flaming one and Elise's is poised—so while they may have disagreements, they don't have quarrels.

Are their personalities similar or do they compliment each other?
Clarkson is easy-going and teasing while Elise is reserved and capable, but both have great sensitivity to the troubles of others; hence they are both completely opposite and yet fit perfectly.

Who is the leader of their friendship (if anyone)?
Elise. At first, that is, and sometimes later... but only sometimes. :)

Do they have any secrets from each other?
Definitely. And knowing that they cannot help it pains them both.

How well do they know each other’s quirks and habits?
Elise has made a study of Clarkson's and he always finds amusement in her feminine ways. So very, very well.

What kind of things do they like to do together?
The simple day-to-day things that, while usually very quiet, make up most of life and which are the almost everything of what Clarkson and Elise are to each other.

Describe each character’s fashion style (use pictures if you’d like!) How are their styles different/similar?
This question, as put in regards to Clarkson and Elise, at first struck me as very funny. Then I thought, “Why so? Men and Women do often have different versions of the same general style,” so here 'tis. Both have simple unobtrusive taste, but while Clarkson's is of homespun, Elise's has the sheen of wealth.

How would their lives be different without each other?
Quoting from a previous post of mine: “Clarkson would have died and Elise would have been comfortably rich and horribly lonely.”

  1. But what did Elise do that was so important to Clarkson? I MUST KNOW. *much mystery* I like how Elise and Clarkson have similar tastes despite being in different fashion demographics, and I can definitely see how this would work in friends. And oh my, that quote of yours. It sounds like something Austen and therefore something wonderful.

(Psst, here's my Beautiful People post!)

    1. Alyssa,
Ah, now that is a secret... but I'm SO glad you are curious! :) That fashion question was a bit of a tangle for me at first, I'm pleased I found it out.

I enjoyed reading yours, too. Thanks for visiting!

  2. Aww, Clarkson and Elise sound SO wonderful!! I think they would easily become a favorite couple of mine. :) Their pictures are so cute and I love how you described them! I especially liked your explanation of how they disagree but don't quarrel and how they are complete opposites and yet "fit perfectly." :) I want to hear more about these two and their story!

    1. Natalie,
You are just the sweetest of friends, girl! Arwen (she is my co-dreamer on this you know) and I have known these two to be Clarkson and Elise for quite some time, but I found the photos of them minutes before I put up the post and you can imagine how over-the-moon thrilled I was!!!

I'm glad they have such a fan in you -- oops now I have the Toy Story song going going through my head. :) Have you seen it?- But anyway, it's always so warm and fuzzy having other people love "your" people too! :)

    2. Eowyn,
Aww, thank you!! You are, too. I can't tell you how much I've been appreciating your and Heidi's friendship. :)
Oh really? That is so fun that your sister is helping with your story! It's so fun to have someone to brainstorm with and toss around ideas with, isn't it?

Heehee, finding the perfect casting for characters is SO exciting! I find it funny how Clarkson's photo is obviously more modern than Elise's and yet I can picture them perfectly together, in a scene or such.

Haha, yes! I have seen all three of the Toy Story fims! They might just be my favorite pixar movies....I'm not sure, though. I love so many of them. :)

Yes!! I know exactly how you feel! All the positive feedback on got on my own post about Henry made me so overwhelmingly happy. :)

    3. Natalie,
Arwen was actually the one to come up with the sequel idea in the first place and then I zinged away with it and indeed it has been terrific fun. :)

Finding the perfect character is always such a thrilling moment as it's almost like seeing the face of a long lost relative for the first time, someone you have always known of but never really knew and then suddenly you are dancing around with glee at seeing them! (Not that I have met any long lost relatives, but you understand the idea. :))

I just watched Toy Story 2 last week and I think I enjoyed it almost more than the first one, and you may well believe that I can hardly wait to see the third! Do you have a favorite among them?

    4. Eowyn,
Hahaha, yes! I completely understand-and what a great comparison! (but yes, I haven't ever met any long-lost relatives either! haha)

Ohhh, my. That's the most horrible question you could possibly ask me about Toy Story. ;) It's SO hard to choose. I love them all. I adore the first because....well, after all, it's the first and just so wonderful. :) The 2nd is so fun and exciting, and the The 3rd one makes me cry in several spots...but it's so beautiful and sweet. I really can't decide which I like best!
Do tell me what you think of the 3rd when you see it!

    5. Natalie,
It makes you cry? That is great because, you know, tears over a story usually means major greatness. :)

    6. Eowyn,
Yes! It certainly does! I frequently measure how good a movie or book was by whether it made me cry or not. ;)

  3. Isn't BP the best? It is becoming one of my favorite parts of the new month!
I also want to know what Elise did that stopped Clarkson from dying. Sounds interesting. *Goes back to read other BPs*

Totally unrelated: I enjoyed reading over your blog, and nominated you for the Liebster award if you would like to participate. Here are my questions, and the second link has the details. Cheers!

    1. Rebekah,
It most certainly is!!! I love it muchly. Indeed it is definitely a highlight of my month, too. :)

Thank you! I have some other tags to answer as well, but your questions are so fun that I will try to answer them as soon as possible. :)

    1. Laura,
That is so sweet of you! :)

  5. The last answer got me. I like them.

    1. Skye Hoffert,
That is perfectly terrific. :) Have a lovely day!

  6. Your answer to question 10 got me hook, line, and sinker! Makes me want to find out more of what happens to these wonderful characters of yours. :D

    1. Inklandpapertallship,
Thank you for visiting! Your comment pleased me very much indeed. :)

  7. They sound really cute! I love the last line “Clarkson would have died and Elise would have been comfortably rich and horribly lonely.” That really gave me the feels for their relationship. I did Beautiful People as well this month. ^ ^

    1. Victoria,
Thank you! Cute is a very good way to describe them. :) Funnily enough, almost every single one of my couples while being different from each other in terms of how they relate to one another, in others (in fact, in almost everything) they yet still always have this level of adorable "they are just the sweetest" about them. :)

I don't want to say good-bye
