Art Walk {Spring 2014}
I can easily spend an entire afternoon with
my pencils and so here is a small collection of some of—though by no means all
of—those artistic spring afternoons. All of the pictures have something I
particularly like about them, either in the picture itself or the story behind
it (I mean all pictures have stories, do they not?) Hence they are somewhat of a
small gathering of this loveliest of Springs.
My very first piece of fan-art (and though
the sketch is not perfect) it is of the two main characters in High Noon, which makes
it perfect. Hence I cannot help but be very happy.
Ballerinas are incredibly fun to draw and I
am most pleased with this one as, though she was first inspired by a photo, I
drew her from memory.
This was inspired by a shockingly terrible
book cover for “The Silver Chair” by C.S. Lewis—(Rillian with green hair? I
think not)—and the art of Trina Schart Hyman, whose work I greatly admire.
Cool drawings!!!
ReplyDeleteDrawing is so relaxing. I should do it more often:)
Ella -- Thank you and I'm glad you liked them!
DeleteVery fun! I took art lessons when I was younger and really enjoyed them. There's something so fulfilling about seeing a picture take shape under your very fingers, isn't there?
ReplyDeleteI especially like the third picture. Her stance looks so natural, and the lines of the dress are lovely.
It's funny, but when I was 14 or so, I drew a portrait of Gary Cooper while watching High Noon. Hadn't thought of that at all until I saw your pictures here!
Hamlette -- Yes, I was very pleased with how that lady turned out, (especially her face and hair). :)
DeleteOh, yay! Now I can see your High Noon fan art. :) Gary Cooper looks great, you really captured how he looks! I also really like Aurora and the pinterest-inspired one. The folds in the gown are really nice. :) Great job!
ReplyDeleteNatalie -- Of all my drawings, I think the High Noon and Aurora pieces are two of my very favorites. :)
DeleteYes, mine too! :)
DeleteBTW, I've nominated you for the Sunshine Award here on my blog :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you!
